Frequently asked questions
Why does my mail not arrive?
An address only accepts mail after it has been opened here and as long as it has not expired. Mail to addresses that were never opened or have expired is rejected right away. Some services send with a delay or block disposable domains. Mail with detected malware and oversized mail is rejected as well.
Who can read my inbox?
Anyone who knows the address. An inbox has no password. Never use tmail for confidential things or for accounts you want to keep. The operator can view stored mails, especially when abuse is suspected.
How long does an address stay valid?
At most 24 hours after it was opened. Then the address and all mails are deleted. It cannot be extended.
Can I reuse an expired address?
A random address never: it stays locked forever after it expires and is never given out again, not even to you. A name you chose stays locked for 6 months; after that, anybody can open it again, including someone else. So never use tmail for accounts you want to keep: whoever opens the address later can take over your account via “forgot password”.
Are attachments checked for viruses?
Mail with known malware is usually rejected on arrival. There is no guarantee, though. Only open attachments you expect.
Can I send or reply with tmail?
No. tmail only receives.
Can I choose my own address?
Yes, with “Choose your own”. If somebody else has the same name open right now, you see the same inbox. Blocked names and expired addresses cannot be opened: expired random addresses never again, names you chose only after 6 months. Do not use it for accounts you want to keep.
Why are images in mails not shown?
Images from other servers are blocked at first, because the sender could otherwise see when and where you opened the mail. Use “Load external images” to show them.
